Within A Memory Poem by michael haggertay

Within A Memory

From outside this misjudged distance a foot fall far from perfect
Shows that I am clearly stranded here.
I can only surmise your image cascading from outside,
As a road of two junctions.
Your distance has two directions
And stepping but one step
Shadows the same conclusion,
You will walk the other path.
Free winds on open plains
Take refuge
On the living faces that prove its existence.
And with all this you fear ill intent
I think you do not.
How can my flame stand proud of the fire
Unless it burns with a colour
Close to your own.
Why would I wish to disrupt your journey
When your world begins and ends
As does mine, divided.
Like loosing a limb
It’s as if it is still there,
A shadow of your self.
Take refuge in that you have enriched lives.
And follow your journey.
Know that you are missing not
But still moving
Within a memory.
