Within You Poem by michael haggertay

Within You

You look at me and within me
I look at you and within you.
I see beyond your beauty.
You see beyond my sadness.
When I see your hair fall about your face
I want to gently sweep it back.
When I see you struggle with your thoughts
I want to silently ease your mind.
When you turn to go
I want to follow.
When you come to me
I want to hold that moment for eternity.
When you get nourishment
I want to be your food.
When you sleep
I want to be your dreams.
When you walk
I want to be the ground that guides you.
When you talk
I want to be the words you say.
When you travel
I want to be the destination.
If you have fear
Let me stand strong for you.
If confused
Let me make the path clear.
If you feel enclosed
Let me open all doors for you.
If you think just one thought of me
Think of me as a shadow
That no person has truly known
Whose depth now is cast within your reach.
And whose reach is cast within your depth.
