Without Any Gain Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Without Any Gain

Rating: 5.0

Last peace mission has ended in failure
All hopes are belled and nothing is sure
God only knows when siren will be on
Destruction will be everywhere without any gain

There will be colossal damage to the property
It may not alleviate suffering but increase the poverty
Everybody may run for any possible shelter
At last moment some good sense may prevail and situation may alter

Everybody is fully aware of the consequences
Two world wars are recent tragic instances
How much loss to human lives and cities?
No one had imagined before start of hostilities

It is easy to create war hysteria
The war zone increases its inertia
Nothing is spared like mosques, temples or churches
These are places of worships which only preaches

There may be many surprises in the store
People may take it to high tone in war
“Finish or get finished” may be clear slogan
Arms and ammunition may be rushed in wagons

Prayers for lasting peace and good sense
It may be death nail in country’s coffins
How many may lay down their lives?
Even though there is desire and peaceful drives

First firing shot is received with all its power
Sirens are aired from all buildings including towers
Complete black out with strict adherence to rules
All eyes are on moves which can bring to peace tables

Some countries may try honestly to end the impasse
Some may add fuel to fire with no let up or pause
New weapons of mass introduction may find live field trials
Thousands may perish with vehement no and denials

Young and old alike may face the annihilations
The peace may be derailed and strain the relations
There will be war hysteria with increase in hatred
Nobody may be able to meet eyes and agreed to be lead

Few nations may try to act as honest brokers
Rest may watch it intensely and act behind as pokers
Peace may be imposed and hostilities stopped
Nothing much may be achieved as against hoped

New race for superiority may increase
Chances for peace may recede or decrease
New restrictions on human passage across the border
All benefits may be passed on to smugglers and hoarders

Illegal trade may thrive and economy may shrink
Country may be pushed back by many years and sink
Whole burden may pass on to already poor and downtrodden
May take years of hard work and pain to cope up even
