Woe Is Me Poem by Christien Bolden

Woe Is Me

The pain, the hurt, the anguish I feel.

The betrayal, the lies, the manipulation endured.

What do I do? How do I continue to endure in this time of despair?

I fervently and continually ask for the strength and fortitude and You supply but these feelings of sorrow never subside.

I plead for softness of heart for my lover yet am met with bitter coldness and rejection.

Am I the source…? Am I the source of my own pain? Is it my own doing that undoes me?

What have I done or left undone to be faced w/ such a reckoning?

Why do I feel such shame and worthlessness? Am I not worthy of triumph, grace, honesty or truth?

Or shall be left alone to wallow in all my sorrow and torment?

My body, my mind, and my soul grows weary on this journey.

I long for rest and reassurance that my chosen lot shall reap any recompense.

Any solace for my spirit, or comfort for my wounded heart.

Bring penance, bring truth, bring the sweet taste of peace for my trouble..
