I know I've always said
I don't believe in regrets
But it's only now I realise
You were the best thing
That has happened to me yet
I know what we had
Only lasted a little while
But if I just think of you
I can't help but smile
I'm not sure what it is exactly
That I'm trying to say
I think you've affected me
In that very special way
Although I know it is unlikely
I just needed to know
If you ever felt the same?
Or was it just a case
Of filling time and space
Until you found that person
For whom your heart has a special place?
