Wonderland Poem by Kelly Aragon

Wonderland

How is it Alice,
In Wonderland,
Who have you met
Did you make any friends?

“Why yes I did, ”
Little Alice said,
“I met a queen”
“Who painted roses red.”

“I met a rabbit”
“With a shiny gold watch, ”
“Who always seemed late”
“To something he’d forgot.”

“I met a smoking blue caterpillar, ”
“He was really quite rude, ”
“He kept blowing smoke at me, ”
“Now the smell clings to my shoes.”

“I met an interesting cat, ”
“With a really big grin, ”
“He liked to disappear, ”
“Over and over again.”

“I met some talking flowers, ”
“They were nice to me at first, ”
“But then they called me a weed, ”
“It was really the worst.”

“I met a Mad Hatter”
“And his friend the March Hare, ”
“Seeing such a tea party, ”
“Is really quite rare.”

My dear little Alice,
I glad you had a nice dream,
So close your eyes and go to sleep,
So you can dream again,
Of the magical place called Wonderland.
