Words Poem by Natalie Nicole Story

Words

I'm sorry if the truth I speak
brings you to your knees
You've left me there so many times
my heart a guttural scream

I'm sorry if my truth
is not what you want to hear
I never asked to be called those names
my mind they did sear

I'm not sorry I wasn't the cure
that you thought you needed
You took what you wanted
Me? never heeded

I'm sorry for the pain I've caused
the rejection of your 'love'
there is now no settling point
I'm tempered from above

I'm sorry if the choices I made
left you feeling used
I've only lived a life of fear
of becoming the words you used.
