Words Written On A Cloudy Afternoon - Poem by Shelly Stevens

Words written on a cloudy morning

I see it
I see it
In your eyes
When the war
Becomes too much
And your burdens
Weigh so heavily
Upon your soul
And the days
Seem never ending
And words become
Much to terrible
To utter aloud
And the sound
Of the guns
Surround your heart
And your soul
Becomes a fortress

I am here
I am an
Oasis for you
A soft place
To find quiet
Lay down the
The troubles that
The world has
Has placed on
Your beautiful shoulders

Give them to
Me a gift
That I can
Bear a while
Until you find
The way again
And you remember
That life is
So very sweet
And every day
Small treasures can
Be found if
You look
