Worldly Child-Girl Poem by Melissa Coventry

Worldly Child-Girl

Rating: 5.0

As sweet scented as forgotten loved old book,
As engaging as a crisp spring bloom,
Is that full of love smile,
From a child,
Growing into womanhood
Unknown to the holder,
Behold her, the child–girl.

Golden hair, sun kissed with rose.
Tender and graceful,
Healer to the heart,
In her own small touch,
Purity makes up her whole,
Eyes of god – no wonder,
She is an angel child.

Pain in the soul,
This baby face doll,
Holds the pain inside,
So deep and buried,
So long since recovered,
Bitter-less is this child-girl.

Yet she is unusual to the world view,
She is not worth the time as much as man,
She is an object of courtship.
Not an equal in mind or thought.
Destined to emptiness is this child-girl.
