Wwii Vet Delbert Belton Beaten To Death By 2 Black Teens Poem by Luke Easter

I was stationed on the Island of Okinawa but that was in 1973,
Delbert Belton,88, was there in World War II long before me,
He took an enemy bullet to the leg yet continued his advance,
He was brutally beaten August 21,2013 but was it by chance?

Spokane, Washington, two Black male teens in a savage attack,
At least 70 years younger plummeted till he couldn’t fight back,
Pronounced dead Thursday morning by thugs he did not know,
He made it through fierce combat overseas, what a way to go.

However, does this mirror the senseless death of Christopher Lane?
The 22 year-old Australian who came to America to play a game,
Attending college on a scholarship, he was jogging, to be his best,
It’s a fact, young Black men commit 50% of murders in the U.S.

Affectionally called, “Shorty” by his friends at the Eagles Lodge,
88 years-old he escaped many things, death he could not dodge,
No one his age under heavy teenage blows to the face and head,
Could’ve survived a vicious assault, end result, pronounced dead.

Ted Denision, Delbert’s best friend of 23 years, “more like a dad, ”
Discribing Belton, in addition to being the best friend he ever had,
His good buddy Shorty enjoyed shooting pool and working on cars,
He was waiting for Lillian Duncan, the suspects won’t get very far.

Surveillence cameras captured the cowards, as one was heavy set,
With one of the suspects in custody, the second arrest is a sure bet,
Imagine if you will, a youthful 6 feet tall, upwards of 150 pounds,
Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office, blunt injuries abound.

Tough guys like these do not need trials, convictions, behind bars,
Front line combat in Afghanistan to see how tough they really are,
Without weapons, yeah, let them be armed with what Delbert had,
These 2 punks killed a Purple Heart Veteran so they must be bad.

Alleged teen suspects Demetruis Glenn and Kenan Adams-Kinard,
Made up a story to spread sympathy over their actions with lard,
Claiming Mr. Belton shorted them while they were buying drugs,
So, Delbert is now a cocaine dealer & the Blacks are not thugs?
