Xenophobia Poem by Zaan van Vuuren

Xenophobia

Rating: 5.0

As teargas fills the streets,
an innocent body bleeds.
A brother kills a brother,
all love is lost for one another.
The rise of an unreasoned fear,
to that what is foreign or peculiar.
People are losing their humanity,
to secure the purity of their own identity.
Differences should be put aside,
to stop these acts of genocide.
Heed the words of Romans 2: 11.
We are equal through earth and heaven.
What happened to the rainbow nation?
Are we all not part of God's creation?
Hold hands to stand bold and true.
Fight against this corruptive flue.
Do not be overcome by evil,
instead live by a gracious free will.
Love yourself and love one another,
instead of killing, lift up your brother.
Show the world, a nation's true light.
Live in peace and lay down the fight.
