Xiphoid Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Xiphoid

Rating: 4.3

Xiphoid claws spread right out raising his body high
He looked around smelt the air and gave a fearful cry
Fourty stones of sheer muscle pounded the trail this way
Standing there transfixed my feet had turned to clay
Screeching to a halt he came and raised that giant frame
Fiercely, bared his fangs, razor tooth was his name
He stood right there erect in morning air
A challenge did he make me there
That fearsome face and fangs got closer all the time
Cradled in my arms my Winchester I prime
With one last roar and glare he turned around
Those front paws hit and shook the ground
He left me quivering there
Grizzly the bear
