Goodbye, Cambridge
- Xu Zimo
Gently, I am leaving,
Just like when gently came I.
Gently, I wave goodbye to the Western sky.
The golden willow by the riverside
Is the Setting Sun's bride.
Her beauty on the shiny waves reflecting,
In my heart it'll be rippling.
On Cambridge's soft soil stand the green reeds,
Their image on water showing.
O! Were I a tiny weed
Amidst the soft waves flowing!
The water beneath the elm's shades is not crystal clear,
It's the rainbow in the firmament,
Scattered among the plants floating
With one's dreams in muddled sediment.
Chasing my dream?
Towards the greener grass with a long pole,
I float;
With a boat full of star-lights.
Among the stars sprinkling,
I could be loudly singing.
But I cannot be singing -
Silence is the flute of parting.
The Summer insects all remain silent for me.
Silence is Cambridge tonight.
Gently, I am leaving now,
Just like when gently I came.
My sleeve I flick -
Not taking a piece of the coloured-cloud.

輕輕的我走了, 正如我輕輕的來;
那河畔的金柳 是夕陽中的新娘;
悄悄是別離的笙簫;
正如我悄悄的來;
