Xuru Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Xuru

A whip for the horse and a bridle for the donkey,
But a flying swallow will alight one day!
So do not answer a fool with folly,
Because you will then be just like him or her!

Life is like the well-fed horse in the morning,
And war is like a wolf from the desert;
But a fool is like a lion from the forest who wants to eat us all!

I am Xuru,
And i do know my ways on this path;
For my words are the words of joy and peace,
But my enemies have set down a trap for me.
