Yen Poem by Ash Desrocher

Yen

I looked at the boy
at the end of the room
that I had known for years
knowing that I had no shot
in God's eyes with him.
His religious practices,
blinding me
from being able to tell him how I truly feel about him.
The painful longing,
yearning I feel for him
making it hard to feel
what's right and what's wrong
in his eyes
in God's eyes.
But I do know
we're worlds away,
yet bound to the same hell,
same mortal planet,
and none of the same feelings,
toward one another.
