Yesterfar Poem by April Kremens

Yesterfar

Who built you up
with spit and dust?

The thud-n-thump
in your chest
betrays you-
a wan cry to my ear:
Help.

I’ll build you up
with brick and mortar
steel and sparks
and
nails around your heart.

That’ll hold
That’ll hurt
But you’ll hold steady
then-
for the tides of pain
I’ll be ready

To build you up with
love and forgiveness
....and forgiveness
soft
touch
words
caress
kisses.

Who dared to build you up
on spit and dust?
I should shake them blind
I should rattle their ears

but for you, love
I will hold the line
I will build you up
I will carry your heart
hold it up high
safe, my love,
always safe in my grasp...

....and we start again, anew -
a new beginning for me and you.

Two excellent poems, April, I certainly hope you have more where they came from.
