You Poem by Daniela Iacoppi

You

Rating: 5.0

I'm lying here
Thinking of You.

I'm not allowed.

Something You started
Long ago.
A game you laughingly disavowed.

A door You open and never go through.
My broken heart with someone other than you.

Wish I were yours,

Wish he were You.

You give yourself to me,
Then you take it all away.
My imagination, you say.
My expense,
Subjected to your glee.

No laughter anymore,
Tears as I become someone I abhor.

Dignity but by a whisper sustained,
Why don't You see
My pain?

Selfish,
Charming,
Waspish,
Alarming,
Astute,
Resolute,

You.
No more.
