You Are - Poem by Nathaniel H. Vander Els

For Maria
You are my reason.
You are my rhyme.
Nothing can be better when you are here.

Nothing can be bad when you are here.
You are the Sun to me,
The moon, the stars, the universe to me.
Without you my world collapses.

Dark bleak emptiness,
Falling forever towards certain nothingness.
You are Aphrodite, Helen, Venus, Juliet
You are perfect.

A dull day needs one thing.
If I feel sad, lonely, purposeless, bored
I just think of you.

No problem or worry can’t be fixed.
A simple thought of you will fix it.
To solve the unsolvable I simply think of you.
Every moment

Of every second
Of every minute
Of every hour
Of every day, week, month, year.

I think of, will be, have been thinking of you.
There is a word for this feeling.
One simple phrase.
The Cause of the worst wars and the greatest triumphs.

More powerful than any pen or any sword.
Marielle, je t’aime.
Mariana, te amo.
María, ti voglio bene.

Maria, I love you.
