You Are Drifting Through My Escapes Poem by Luce Darwin

You Are Drifting Through My Escapes

Rating: 3.0

You are more real than the grass
that grows tall in my yard
outside my home;
The place where I spend my forever.

You are more real than my morning coffee
that calms me
before I have to go places
I'd rather not be.

You are more real
than anyone I've shook hands with
or even grown close to.

You are more real
even though I've never seen your face
because you make me feel
more real than anything else can.

I see you everyday
in the place I go to escape
and I hold you
in this world inside my mind

and that is as real as anything gets to me these days.
