You Are Not Poem by Randy McClave

You Are Not

They said that I was a lost cause
Then I heard their applause,
Because many times I was used and then defeated
I was also hurt and then cheated.
Then indeed I thought I was a worthless blot,
Then I heard a voice saying, "No! you're not"

They said that my defeat was inevitable
And never will I be at the Lord's table,
I was then called more or less a waste of time
Seemingly to them my life was a crime.
Then I thought I was defeated from what I brought,
Then I heard a voice saying, "No! you're not".

What I did or said was called a wasted effort
And all that there was, was deaf and hurt,
I was always sent on a merry chase
To bring laughter to my tormentors face.
I thought I was lost from what I had sought,
Then I heard a voice saying, "No! you're not".

Then against me they all took a rod
Then I finally gave my faith to God,
I said no longer do I feel worries or distraught
Then I heard a voice saying, "No! you do not".
I had knew that there was something amiss,
Then God said with a smile to the world, "Watch This"!
