You call my verses somber oft, my Monsignor?
But blame me not in my misery.
Though my life roller-coaster stride.
So, so oft I finish on the low-deep side.
So, prefer I so.
For in the pit of lowness my heart moves.
And then I sing, and chant, arising, high!
