You Can'T Walk Away From The Greatest Show On Earth Poem by Jay Bradley

You Can'T Walk Away From The Greatest Show On Earth

You can't walk away from the greatest show on earth,
All you know is that you've been dead since birth,
Searching the world for what it's worth,
Only discovering settled turf,
Now you can't walk away from the greatest show on earth;

You freed the tiger from his cage,
And now it's time to disengage,
Your mind is mush to his rage,
You progress but can't turn back the page,
Since you freed the tiger from his cage;

You chased the spider up the tree,
Now your webbed in misery,
Drowning deeply, lost at sea,
A loosened grip on reality,
Now that you've chased the spider up the tree;

You split an ax with a block of wood,
Now you know not evil from good,
What was true is misunderstood,
So you question all you never could,
Now that you split an ax with a block of wood;

With a broken string you strum a new song,
Now the rest of the world wonders what went wrong,
The mothers, sisters, fathers, brothers say you don't belong,
They so fear that you'll lure their precious along,
For with a broken string you strum a new song;

You can't walk away from the greatest show on earth,
All you know is that you've been dead since birth,
Searching the world for what it's worth,
Only discovering settled turf,
Now you can't walk away from the greatest show on earth.
