You Have To Be Skinny Poem by Chris Gray

You Have To Be Skinny

Rating: 3.8

Everywhere you go, you have to be skinny.
You walk down the street, and wish you looked like other girls you see.
You get so hungry your stomach hurts,
Still you just nibble on salads and sip on green tea.
Everywhere you look, you have to be skinny,
You pick up a magazine and flip through the pages.
And every girl, in every picture, is skinnier and prettier than you are,
No matter what her age is.
So others see your body differently than you may.
Because the image you have in your mind of yourself,
Is distorted by things you hear people say.
So the next time you see yourself in the mirror, just remember,
You should want to look exactly like the girl staring back at you,
Because she's the most beautiful person you've ever seen

Staving oneself in order to get as close to the entertainment world's vital statistics as possible is what I refer to as vain glorification of beauty. A well articulated piece of poetry nicely penned with insight. A good poem indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
