You Love Her Poem by alice berndt

You Love Her

I lie awake at night thinking, wondering what went wrong.
I tried to be all that you wanted.
I tried to be everything you saw in her and still be me.
I saw the looks you two gave each other
And heard the rumors of the fun you guys had.
I wanted to believe it was all just my imagination playing tricks on me
But then reality set in
You love her.
Her smile, her laugh, the sound of her voice.
What did I do wrong?
I wish I could be everything you want
I wish I could be everything you need
But I can’t,
At the end of the day I’m just another girl
Trying to be someone she’s not.
