You Only Notice Me I'm Gone Poem by Lacie Hebert

You Only Notice Me I'm Gone

You never notice when I'm hurting
Only when I start deserting
You never listen when I speak
Only when I'm getting weak
You say you're scared of losing me,
But you're scared of who I'll be.
You only notice me when I'm gone,
Never when I'm holding on.
You only love me when I leave,
Never when I'm on my knees.
You say you're changing, but you're not,
Same excuses that you brought.
Same apologies on loop,
Same old lies you paint as truth.
Maybe I'm done believing you,
Maybe I'm done pretending too.
And maybe that's the final sign
You were never really mine.
