You Owe Me An Apology Poem by Raj Dronamraju

You Owe Me An Apology

You do a lot of foolish things
I've suggested in the past you keep a small notebook with you at all times so you can keep notes as a reminder of the things you need to do
Your memory, a bedridden patient, must have finally been taken off of life support
And nothing makes me angrier than when you minimize what I'm angry about with a laugh and by changing the subject
You made me wait and you know how I hate to wait
You owe me an apology

Cyanide capsules inside the hollowed out false tooth of an enemy agent
I will bite down if you don't quit your endless spew about an aunt, weightloss, a movie you want to see
I will gather this all together so it forms a projectile of serious aim
Now, I'll deliver this as a subject of conversation you can't possibly understand
And then you'll go away for several days without telling me
You owe me an apology

You see that's what happens when you get outside Tuesday
Three more days before I can officially escape into myself
I now know, whether I realize it or not, that I am in the process of interviewing for your replacement
At this time, no applicants and no potential leads
Still, the future will not be one of lockstep irritation
The future will be success and a new face, new sexism, in the kitchen and in the bedroom
The future fills me with the jittery joyful apprehension of what is soon to arrive
I'm ambitious, I'm delirious
