When I met you, I remember you in tears,
and I held your hand,
but you ignored me completely,
and yet you smiled sweetly,
at others around you,
yet, I was glad I had found you
When you came home, the first time,
thinking what it would be like,
to be with you,
did you know I stayed up all night,
and worked tirelessly making your room look right?
I was the loud fan,
cheering you on,
at all your games,
I was the planner,
for your birthday parties,
For I knew all your friend's names
I was awake, away from your sight,
when you came back late at night,
and laughed when you had run,
after checking to see if I was asleep,
These thoughts that make me smile and weep
Today, is the first of spring,
today is your day,
I passed you onto another,
and while your mother cried,
I did not for I wanted to shout,
as I did for you during the games
In seeing you as the bride
I knew before I knew you girl,
That I would Love you, before you loved me,
I knew before you did, that you...will smile,
I knew before you spoke, of your fears,
and that I would wipe away your tears
I watch you as a father should,
I'd watch over you, forever, if only I could.
