You're The Same As Everybody Else. Poem by Sam Cottle

You're The Same As Everybody Else.

Are you the slimmest
Volume on the shelf?
Or the encyclopaedia?
And what does it mean
To have a self?
Does it mean recognition,
As this or that thing?
To be a face? To be a name?
Or are we really all the same?
I hope I'm some small,
Beautiful work. I hope
I'm easy to read, to understand,
And, that people find something
Of themselves in me,
That I make them laugh
And make them happy.

You're The Same As Everybody Else.
