You Say You Love Me Poem by Lisa Brashier

You Say You Love Me

You say that you love me,
But you really don’t.
You say that you love me,
But your actions say no.
You say that you love me,
And want me in your life.
You even promised one day,
To make me your wife.

But once again as I sit here
And worry and cry.
I find that all you have
Said is nothing but lies.

Why do I allow you to do
This to me time after time?
All the pain and the suffering
Just makes me so sad.

I would give you the world,
My heart and soul.
But are you truly worth it,
I just don’t know.

If there were guarantees
In life, I would want you as mine.
But over and over, with
Each time my heart breaks.

Maybe I am crazy, maybe
A bit insane. To allow you
In my life time and time again.

For I know there is no future,
For me and you.
But I want you to know,
I will always love you
And keep wishing you loved me too.
