You Should Have Known Me Then Poem by Randy McClave

You Should Have Known Me Then

You should've known me when I was wild
Not now since I am calm and mild,
Then I would have always picked a fight
Whether I be wrong, or right.
I then always flirted with all the females
Like a used car dealer looking for quick sales,
Then when the next day would quickly occur
I would always forget, who the women were.
I would spend my money as quickly as I got paid
My future was not ever prepared for, or laid,
Money to me was meant only to spend and buy
My debt reached deep into my pockets, and to the sky.
On the weekend I was never found at my home
Upon the roads I would always machiviously roam,
Looking for fun which always included sin
Trouble I have always seeked to get myself in.
I did not care who I had hurt or used
Being egotistical I was always being accused,
With a smirk, I still remember how I once was
But, then I did as the self-centered people always does.
I would always bypass that church up the street
Religious people were the people that I did not want to meet,
My words and my actions were never minced
For what I enjoyed, they would have all stood up against.
Now I remember with tears and worries of all that I had done
Most was with shame and guilt, and not really for fun,
As I now wipe the perspiration off of my brow
I am really glad, that you only know me now.
