You Took My Charge Like A Tree, Which Nourishes Its Every Part. Poem by Lajpat Chawla

You Took My Charge Like A Tree, Which Nourishes Its Every Part.

The days we spent together, are the days that stayed in heart
Remaining days in my life, were just a waste, a tart.
The loving whispers which said nothing, I hear and hear again,
Such memories are although, harbingers of much pain.
The places we went together, I am pulled to them again
The same hotels I eat at, I buy at the very same mart.
The days we spent together, are the days that stayed in heart,
Remaining days in my life, were just a waste, a tart.

The other day from a distance, I saw someone similar to you,
She looked like you, she smiled like you, but she was not You.
Girls like you are there aplenty, you are different, you are apart
The days we spent together, are the days that stayed in heart,
Remaining days in my life, were just a waste, a tart.

The evening hours haunt me, saying “She is gone forever”,
A voice screams from within me says, 'Oh! no, never, ever.'
My chest bleeds when I am alone, as if hit by an unseen dart.
The days we spent together, are the days that stayed in heart,
Remaining days in my life, were just a waste, a tart.

You bore my tantrums with love, you were so much mild,
You made me quiet, said' shush baby ', as if I were a child,
You took my charge like a tree, which nourishes its every part.
The days we spent together, were the days that stayed in heart,
Remaining days in my life, were just a waste, a tart.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
It is a poem of reminiscences. The poet visits the same places haunted by him and her sweet heart again and again. He can not forget her at all.
It is about a girl I visualize to have met may be in some dreams or an earlier birth
