I think back to our relationship
And how for you I took the fall
We were something special
We could've had it all
Our love seemed so endless
Summer nights turning into days
We never stopped to question
We just went on our way
The sky never failed us
It went right on with its change
Sometimes the only constant
In a world that never stays the same
We ran through life together
Never pausing to take a breath
Our hearts beat so wildly
Pounding out of our chests
But that never really mattered
We were having too much fun
Neither of us ever wondered
What would stop what we'd begun
Until that fateful day
When the roses failed to bloom
Your human instincts and desires
Spelled out our doom
Then we stopped to wonder
We stopped to open our eyes and see
That everything that seemed so beautiful
