Young Love Lost Poem by Yvonne Rautenbach

Young Love Lost

Rating: 5.0

I rarely write about love but I saw a teenage couple locked in love's embrace but with agony and despair on their faces..At 52 I suddenly remembered it well and wrote this..

Recall young love so dismal yet so fine
a misery led bliss which travelled time
In the thrill of adolescent wine
Staggering I failed to make you mine
sustained your narcissist rebuff
And suffered long the lashes of your eyes
Accused and sentenced was the wounded dove
for loving you too much then not enough

Empathy with teenagers for the painfulness of love, express in verse. You stand from a vantage point. Not too close and not too far.10/10
