Your Dream Girl Poem by Em Jay Christian

Your Dream Girl

When I met you,
I was,
Utterly enamored,
But terrified beyond belief.
You said I had you captivated,
From the very first night,
You said I stole you,
I was such a pretty thief.
We spoke the very next morning,
And the magic,
That I had chalked up to,
A full moon,
Or a combination of witty repertoire,
And the bewitchment,
And the beauty,
Of the late afternoon,
Still lingered in the air.
You told me that you missed me,
That I was beautiful,
And unique,
And decadent, and fair,
You said you dreamed of me,
No other feeling could compare.
I was so lost in you,
I saw you,
In the back of my mind,
And I knew that this was right.
But it wasn't until I fell asleep,
And my heart,
Brought you to me,
Blinding in your majesty,
Staring in my dreams,
And you have been there every night.
And while you are far away,
I can still be with you there,
You will kiss me tenderly,
A perfectly answered prayer.
And I when I can be with you,
I still believe I'm in a dream,
You are too perfect,
Things I didn't even know,
Myself well enough to ask for,
You bring to me,
Nothing else can compare.
And when you wake,
I see that look in your eyes,
A perfect longing,
Just for me.
And finally,
I am your Dream Girl,
And that is all I have to be.
