Your Journey, Your Path Poem by chris 'jonezy' jones

Your Journey, Your Path

It's your journey, your path to take, but as it is your path and no one else's, you will have to construct it yourself. We aren't all trained in paving and building paths, and those who are all have there own techniques for doing so, a way that is tailored to work most efficiently and effectively for them. They can show you how to mortar, how to lay the bricks or pavers, and how to make sure it is all level, but none the less in the end you have to build your own path yourself. You can be supplied the tools and shown all sorts of different techniques, but even so you will always have to find that which works best for you, to make that path sturdy and make sure it can last the ultimate test, the test of time. In saying this you will often encounter obstacles and obstructions, sometimes they will seem unmovable and indestructible, but you can always learn more techniques and gather more tools to conquer them, as many before you have done so successfully in the past. Once you have obtained all this knowledge and have learnt how to put it into practice, you can build that path to wherever it is you yourself want it to go, a destination of your own fulfilment and desires, tranquillity and enlightenment. Once you can master this, you can be at peace with yourself and those who surround you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hopefully I haven't subconsciously ripped off someone else's quote or analogy but this a little something I've been working on based around my own battles with addiction and mental illness, but I'm sure it can apply to anyone. I've pretty much tried to stick with this approach to life since my first rehab experience but only just found the way to word it and what to analogically compare it to.
