It seemed so new
Just like all of the stems blossoming around us as the spring began
It seemed so real
Like the warm breeze flowing between us,
Attempting to be yet another barrier
Everyone, everyone was watching
With their open mouths, gaping eyes, fish faces
Like they could ever even understand what we had
Or as if they were jealous.
Yes im sure they are all jealous
Of us
Of what we have and what they have not
But surely enough
The sun has set upon us
And the earth has opened up between us
Im careful, so careful that i may not fall in
But its hard to resist
When youre pulling me with you.
Its so hard not to be drawn
In the current of the world
But i am strong
But i can still swim
Even when, no longer do i find shelter in your memory..
