Your One True Beautiful Self Poem by Norah Tunney

Your One True Beautiful Self

You do not have to be Someone
your Radiance lies where
you cease to exist-
you do not have to climb some spiritual mountain
just reach out in the joy of being
and the warmth of flesh.

Look at each other with soft eyes-
and see the fragile nature
the ashes behind the smile,
forget the formalities
be your One True Beautiful Self-
No One Else in the entire world
can give us that.

You may not be breathing this
evening, in the meantime-
feel the Freshness of Eternity-
let it seep into the marrow of your mind, and promise me my friend
you will be be so very tender
so very kind.

I think it is a sad thing to have to climb said mountain. All that the universe will allow is there for the taking. The answers are irrelevant if you do not know what questions to ask. Ah the formalities, the feigned gestures and acceptable interchange. Always in rehearsal and never in the play. And at last words of soothing simple complexity. A cool cloth upon a fevered brow.A soft reminder of mortality reminding one not to stray or fall victim to the corruption of the soul but instead..................... You may not be breathing this evening, in the meantime- feel the Freshness of Eternity- let it seep into the marrow of your mind, and promise me my friend you will be be so very tender so very kind.
