Your Place! Poem by Barry Van Allen

Your Place!

There aren't many that I give a damn about,
I can count them on my fingers,
and I know that those that care for me,
don't even leave the left hand.

I'm not talking about superficial friends,
I mean the REAL ones,
- - - such is life !

I'd be surprised if a tear were shed for me,
when they turn me into fertilizer,
I'll do my best to push those daisies up,
but, my money's going with me - - -
not worth the effort though,
to dig up this old miser.

Truth be told, the overwhelming feeling,
will most likely be ...
' Oh! , Well! ' ...
' What's for dinner? '

I know that everybody's focus,
is firmly on themselves, and family,
if you think any differently,
your worse off than I will be!

Trust me when I say,
that the other 5,999,999,999,
just want a decent meal !

But, if you need to act nice,
put on a decent party,
and toast me once or twice!

I've re-read this one again...along with quite a few of your others...searching for answers to unaswered questions.: -) I have only one suggestion to make about this poem...I really think that party ought to be held...long before you're gone! : -) Hugs, Dee
