Your Turn Poem by Logan Ackerley

Your Turn

Talking to you is so bittersweet.
It brings back so many memories.
I remember staying up late in Davis.
Waiting for you to text and I would save it.
I said you were beautiful, you said I was sweet.
You deserved it, I truly believed.

One year, three months ago, you broke me in two.
I was so lost; I didn’t know what to do.
Now our conversations have reverted to their original forms.
And with them, these feelings I felt back in the dorms.
I can’t tell you they’re back, I won’t do that again.
I tried that last summer and I know how it ends.

It’s up to you now, this time it’s your turn.
So put yourself out there and risk getting hurt.
Show me you feel the way you say you do.
Do it to show me I mean something to you.
I need you to prove you’re serious about it.
But I know you won’t ‘cause you’ll never see this.
