You've Got To Be Strong Poem by Mark Heathcote

You've Got To Be Strong

You've got to be strong for the bee sting.
You've got to dry your eyes and sing.
You've got to laugh after every fall.
You've got to be strong.
And I know everyone bleeds.
Everyone cries to clear the air.
Everyone is a rainbow band of colour.
Everyone is a fairground ride.
Some are fun, and others will have you screaming.
You've got to be resilient to survive.
You've got to be strong.
You've got to be valiant, I'm thinking.
And I know everyone suffers deeply.
And each one, at some point, wants to give in.
You've got to hurt with a smile.
You've got to bleed until there's nothing left.
And if you are resilient and survive,
Maybe one little dove will sing.
And forget it ever had a bee sting.
And chirp again even after it's died.
