Yuan Mu: In The Deep Of The Night The Watchman's Hand-Drum Sounds In Haste

The Fifteenth Night of the Twelfth Month
-by Yuan Mu (1716-1797)
-Translated by Frank C Yue

In the deep of the night
The watchman's hand-drum sounds in haste;
By and by, pillow-talks put to flight.
Blowing out my lamp,
More brilliant seem the windows all -
For, lights up, the Moon bright
The whole skies from which white snows did fall.

沉悶的更鼓聲陣陣傳來,喧嘩的人聲漸漸消失;
