Hearts held captive
Not by choice, nor by design
But by forces unknown - giants
Obviously not for you
...

Quinary of blacks on earth
Call you home...
Home to the great Zik of Africa
...Lest I forget our literary icons - the Soyinkas

Freedom Triumphs

Hearts held captive
Not by choice, nor by design
But by forces unknown - giants
Obviously not for you
Suddenly I remembered the great price, Just for me
Longing for freedom, willing but unable
Searching for tranquility, hopeful but not finding
Then comes power, my decision
Freedom unlocked

Minds in turmoil
Choice or chance
Imagine the refugee
Voices say wait, but for how long?
Then comes power
The carpenters!
Helping hands, angels in disguise
Undoubtedly from above
Freedom reborn

Birds of the air
Freedom personified
No wonder, the songs I hear
Life ruled by choice
Some are unwillingly and unable
Maybe able but unwilling, indeed helpless
Then comes power, the Highest
Able and willing, perfection now possible
Freedom triumphs

Friends join the train
Reach for more, the giant leap
And all giants are silenced, more freedom
Peace like no other, success unleashed
Generations unborn - how thankful
Power showcased, there's always more
Broaden the horizon
It all begins
When freedom triumphs
