Broken free, the butterfly spreads upon a flower,
Bountiful colors appearing in her flushed wings,
Rustling with the slight, warmest of breezes,
Too fragile to breathe outwards.

We exist in between time,
Like the sand in the hourglass,
Time on all sides.

Morality was choice-less,
a decision not so free.
A rule made to impress on me
the way the world should be.

I will know love because of,
not in spite of, my flaws.
You will pacify mine
and I will rectify yours,

Night envelops,
Falling darkness.
Lamb asleep,
Resting innocent.

You will keep me
buzzing erratically
until you become a series
of blips in my brain.

We shiver like cowards
consumed by the waves,
I am sorry.

The frenzy of a starving man,
tearing off pieces and
discarding half eaten morsels
to keep consuming,

I could catalogue my conquests
As if I bought instead of sold
And give them each a number
Or place them all on hold

I brush your arm
we fog the windows,
just like he and I before.
