Sarah Swillen Poems

Days pass like honey,
Slow, liquid, sweet.
Nights seem transparent,
Blurry through the heat.
...

Feeling Everything
It's not that life is beautiful,
It's the way that everything feels.
Hot, Wet, Cold Sweat,
...

Because I am like the ocean
I come crashing,
Seeking welcome,
I break on the beach.
...

Where's your armor, lonely soldier?
Your heart is bared to me.
Such an unexpected sweetness,
I'm at a loss for feeling.
...

I could force it out, past awkwardness,
On the borrowed breath from your lips.
Thin and weak, faint lines where bold strokes should slash.
Cut through your composure, leaden the air with my clumsy happiness.
...

Staring at the rain, comfortable on my perch.
Thinking nothing things about silver hair and priorities.
Should be heavy but it doesn’t weigh me down.
Should be confusing but I’m not worried now.
...

After 20 years you tell me that you’d write music to my words
It’s only because someone has told me my poetry matters.
Now it matters to you because it’s important to someone else.
What am I supposed to write about that?

The Best Poem Of Sarah Swillen

Silence Of Thoughts

Days pass like honey,
Slow, liquid, sweet.
Nights seem transparent,
Blurry through the heat.
It felt like years could pass
In the silence of thoughts.
But years ticked off like seconds
In the place my mind was caught.
Time was like a fragrance,
Inhaled and blown away.
Tomorrow felt already gone,
Just like yesterday.
