African Boys Are Not Mad

AFRICAN BOYS ARE NOT MAD
|
there's a different/
between a psyche
& homeless/
we are not mad/
but our pubic hair overgrown like abandoned forest &
we forget the sweetness of yam & red oil/
we are not mad/
but a wandering slaves in our land
&
tenants in our father's house/
our psaltery of culture &
tradition wear broken-ness/
Cos' mother's eyes- a stream of elegy &
our hope for tomorrow was in the burnt house/
our last visit blurred our dreams
We are not mad/
but a dirge on wet sky•
