The Cherry Tree

Winter has drawn to a close
The snow has all but now scattered
The cold harsh winds have
Turned into nothing but a cool breeze,
The green began to retake what was
Taken by the ruthless winter
A barrage of color erupting from recently
Freed soil, blue jays and cardinals come to and fro
Singing their songs of cheer for
The freshly arrived spring.
There stood a tree
It stood there with pride
For it has took on the heartless cold
Head on, the leaves that once stood
Upon it are long dead by now
But with the arrival of spring
The somber and lurid tree
Could live once again.
Filled with nothing but pride,
The tree puts on an array of
Perfect pink petals,
Each showing the hardships
The bitterness the tree has endured
With its petals dancing in the warm breeze
Of spring, let it be known
That this tree has lived to see another day.
