Windy Day

Bedrooms. Bedrooms
and living rooms
and hallways and
tiny kitchens,
and windows that
run up and down
the street.

All the rooms with
all their people
sat by their windows.
Still faces sat
alone thinking-

Where is the end?
Where is the end
to all of this?

The summer was
over with a
thunderstorm. Then
the temperature
dropped and there was
no more to drink
and I walked out
into the wind.

What passes for
life in this age
is beyond obscene.

The days whittle
me thin as a
reed, ...
