Apology

We were done and I was thirsty
So she made a drink and then,
By the time she gave it to me,
I knew the poison was within.
The smirk she wore was empty.
Her dress, loose on her skin.
She whispered my name softly.
It made me remember when
She, that lady of the night,
Kissed me so tender
As the moon shone so bright
On her body, so slender
That in the morning light
I couldn't bear to send her
For fear someone else might
See her, and wish to rent her.
So kept her here, I did.
Her toll, I refused to pay.
