Whitney Stevens Poems

Thunder Puddles damp with static
Blue macaws with crystal eyes
Balloons alight like many stars
Such are the musings of a muse
...

2.

Oh great Harpy of the skies
Wings of love and wings of pain
Set upon me your greedy eyes
...

3.

Oasis of hope
There's room for us all to stay
Wish the world away
...

Up upon the highest peak
Where words will have no meaning
There we shall make our vows
Where promises break like sticks
...

I was falling down into my tomb, the vertex of my lasting doom
Above my little dirt-like womb, a single blackened flower blooms
I split the earth and grasped its stem, its little petals I have condemned
'I won't go down alone like them' I coughed out with a wad of phlegm
...

Brittle Tower of glue and mortar
Retained together by itself

On its own and in the dark
...

Ever-spinning wheel of lightning
Sparks flying across the sky
As the voltage grows it is slowly brightening
...

All atop the crystal clouds
There where dusty darkness shrouds

You might not note a minute man
...

9.

Spin the earth you blasted giant!
Why've you become so defiant?
I gave you all that you deserved
...

My inkwell broke
My tunic's soaked

My strings have snapped
...

11.

Salt the earth and you will grow
A thousand more of ash and snow
All toppled by a single blow
All distanced by a single throw
...

Truth is wrapped in cookie sheets
Life the lie on slips of paper
Taste the crunch, a chaser
Remark on the sweet feeling of trust
...

The End Times
Seethe the magma layers of sin
Curse the frozen wilds of dark
Bodies have been shaven thin
...

The sword is mightier than the pen
For actions speak louder than words
But a pen can inspire a million swords
And a million actions are stronger than one
...

I fear what lies beyond the shadows
Beyond the line Icarus passed
What lurks among the charcoal depths
Among the shining balls of gas
...

Life's like a clock as it loops back around
My eyes like the hands that see the same day
Each breath is repeated the seconds droll on
Each hour that passes is an hour down the drain
...

Mighty warriors standing tall
They pierce the sky with spear like spires
I fear one day I might become,
Yet another one of them
...

I walk the beach one moonlit night
The rays of light reflecting upon the sea
I built a sandcastle, a tower, and spire
Yet the salty sea foam washed it away
...

Two on the stairs
One walks fast with their head up
The other is slow, face down
...

Musings Of A Muse

Thunder Puddles damp with static
Blue macaws with crystal eyes
Balloons alight like many stars
Such are the musings of a muse

Paper trails of scissor blades
Lords and ladies among the frogs
Flowers scented like a raging inferno
When the muse is dragged away

Taped constructions rife with mice
Glasses lensed with looking glass
Voices from a world parallel
Padded walls are where he'll stay
