Yocheved Saksenberg Poems

I did not heed my father's warning.
Why would I? Rather through the clouds I was soaring.
I had to know if He is real.
His face, He did not conceal.
...

Guitar chords strumming along to the humming of the bees.
The flowers are blossoming and open to greet the sun.
It is a meadow with long flowing grass and rusting trees.
It is a place where two lovers go to have fun.
...

I live in an upside down place.
Where the Devil has a man's face.
One kind does he chase.
And nightmares we have to face.

Icarus' Fall

I did not heed my father's warning.
Why would I? Rather through the clouds I was soaring.
I had to know if He is real.
His face, He did not conceal.
I cannot tell the difference between the melting wax of my wings
and my streaming tears.
In my ears, the call of the crows rings.
Alas to me, his face appears.
I cannot help but throw back my head and laugh!
May misfortune fall upon those who doubted!
I am just a youth but my knowledge is undefeated.
May Athena feast on my behalf.
"Helios is certain, " I shouted,
"My words must be repeated! "
I pray I have been heard as I fall;
so that my memory may remain
and my sacrifice would not have been in vain.
I wonder if the Sisters Three knew my Fate.
By the gates does Hades wait?
I close my eyes in acceptance.
I have completed what I set out to do; now I may rest.
My knowledge is transcendence.
Black
I hear my father's cry

Nothing
Silence
"Hello Death, do you know me? "
